I manage a portfolio of clients, working to ensure those programs are on strategy, infused with creativity and generating results. I also keep a pulse on the changing digital landscape and manage our Services team.
What is your area of focus / what teams do you lead and/or work on?
There’s not much I have not seen in my 25+ year career. I have a deep passion for developing communications strategy and a wealth of experience with activating integrated marketing communications programs. At my core, I’m a problem-solver. I love a client challenge and developing solutions that generate results.
How long have you worked at Airfoil?
This is my 13th year with the agency. Lucky 13 – am I right? Love the people, love the clients and love the work.
What’s the best thing about working at Airfoil?
There is a new challenge or problem to solve every day. Plus, I love my colleagues and my clients.
Why did you choose marketing as a career?
I started as a journalist reporting on marketing and advertising for Advertising Age. And, what I realized is that I really loved the creativity involved in creating campaigns and shifting/shaping perceptions of brands. It seemed like a lot more fun than just writing.
What’s your all-time favorite Airfoil event?
The Air-mazing Race in downtown Detroit. I am a very competitive person and love games. So, I very much wanted to win this. However, there were others on my team that just wanted to have fun. In my book winning and fun are the same thing. Am I right? Any time I get to bond with my fellow ‘Foilers is a good time.
What’s the most embarrassing moment in your career?
I could probably write a coffee table book on this question alone! One that stands out is a new car washing product launch for P&G’s Mr. Clean brand. A colleague (while I was on maternity leave) promised that we could get Mr. Clean to appear at the Detroit Auto Show, which was about a month away. There were no plans for Mr. Clean to exhibit or sponsor the event. I didn’t want to let the client down so I bought two tickets to the Charity Preview black tie event and invited Mr. Clean as my date. His 6’8” frame with about 6 percent body fat, bleached eye brows, hoop earring and tight white T-Shirt and pants, was quite a sight to be seen in a sea of black ties and a date all of 5’4.” For a person who really doesn’t like to be the center of attention, those were five torturous hours of embarrassing attention.
Who’s your dream celebrity bff?
When or where are you your most creative?
Driving in my car both in the morning and on the way home. The people who know me well understand this because I also leave random voicemails with my ideas. They always come with the caveat of, “this might not be the best idea since I just thought of it in my car on the way home, but …”
Sports. I play softball and soccer. I watch my kids play baseball, soccer and run. And, I’ve been playing fantasy baseball for over 20 years (before the Internet).
