Detroit – February 27, 2007 – Airfoil Public Relations, specialists in public relations and marketing communications for both leading and emerging companies, continue to reward growth from within and to attract strong talent with the announcement of new hires Tonja Deegan, editorial services specialist, and Megan Martenka, assistant account coordinator. In addition, Airfoil has made several promotions within the agency: In the business-to-consumer (B-to-C) practice, Elin Spahr has been promoted to account supervisor from senior account executive, Allen Arnold to account executive from account coordinator, and Nicole Williams to account coordinator from assistant account coordinator. Within the business-to-business group, Airfoil has promoted Ashley LaCroix to senior account executive from account executive and Eric Rodriguez to account executive from account coordinator.
Deegan brings expertise in new media, blogging and online communities as well as traditional facets of journalism. Deegan was previously the manager of General Motors’ FastLane blog and podcasts – recipient of several innovation awards in the public relations industry – during her tenure as blog/Web project manager at Hass MS&L. Prior to that, Deegan made her career in journalism with stints at Crain’s Detroit Business, freelance business reporting for The Detroit News and contributing to the email newsletters of Detroit’s CBS Radio affiliate, WWJ AM 950.
Martenka joins Airfoil following several internships with the Central Michigan University Office of Public Relations and Marketing, Dow Chemical Company and Special Olympics Michigan. Martenka earned her bachelor’s degree in interactive public relations and journalism from Central Michigan University.
Airfoil’s growth is further reflected by the promotions of Spahr, Arnold and Williams in the B-to-C group, and La Croix and Rodriguez in the B-to-B group. Since joining Airfoil in 2003, Spahr has driven a number of national media relations efforts for several major agency accounts. Arnold, at Airfoil since 2005, provides expertise in implementing strategic media relations outreach and has facilitated several successful consumer campaigns for key Airfoil accounts. Through her expertise in media relations, research, consumer, music and print media, Williams provides media relations and research support to the B-to-C team. Williams joined Airfoil in 2006.
As a B-to-B team member since 2004, La Croix provides strategic counsel and media relations expertise to core Airfoil clients. Rodriguez joined Airfoil’s B-to-B practice group in 2005, where he has leveraged his information technology acumen and media relations experience to drive corporate communications strategy on a number of projects.
