Award recipients will be honored at an awards luncheon hosted by the MBPA on Sept. 23, 2014 at the Detroit Marriott within the Renaissance Center.

An independent research firm evaluates each company’s entry based on key measures in various categories. They include compensation, benefits and employee solutions; employee enrichment, engagement and retention; employee education and development; recruitment, selection and orientation; employee achievement and recognition; communication and shared vision; diversity and inclusion; work-life balance; community initiatives; and strategic company performance.

The honored companies also compete for 12 elite awards, one granted for each of the above categories. Also, an overall winner that has excelled in all categories will be honored with a “Best of the Best Overall” award. The elite award winners will be revealed during the luncheon.

The Sept. 23 awards program will begin with registration, networking and an exhibit gallery at 7:30 a.m. Educational workshops will follow at 8:30 a.m. The topics of this year’s sessions will include “Managing Culture and Engagement in Rapid Growth and Changing Environment,” and “Talent Shortage – Finding and Keeping the Right Talent.” Doug Rothwell, president and CEO of Business Leaders for Michigan is this year’s keynote speaker.
