You don’t need me to tell you that our world is changing fast. Industry analysts are expecting autonomous vehicles to be taking over the road in the next 10 years. With this in mind, why are we still searching for change for parking meters? It’s almost as bad as searching for a pay phone – and we all know we haven’t used one of those since the dark ages. Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to break a dollar anymore? Enter a company that is breaking all the rules of parking – Parkmobile.

Parkmobile was created to make parking simple. Period. Searching for change or getting cash to pay the attendant isn’t needed anymore. With their mobile app you can pay for the parking spot with a click or two and simply walk away. I remember one night in Ferndale, Mich. when it was raining cats and dogs. I didn’t want to leave Como’s because the pizza and company was too good. However, I was running out of time on the meter. I ran out to my car to throw some more change in and by the time I did so I was soaking wet. Now that I downloaded Parkmobile on my phone I won’t have that issue anymore. If your meeting is going over time or you’re having too much fun on your dinner date, a 15-minute notification from the app gives you the ability to extend the time via your phone without having to get out of your seat.

In our new marketing POV “Be Fearless: 6.5 paths to stand out in your company and your category,” Parkmobile is the perfect example of path number four – break the rules. If the above paragraphs didn’t convince you think about this. You can park and pay using the same app whether you are in Chicago, St. Louis, Miami Beach or hundreds of other locations throughout the United States. This has never been possible up until Parkmobile created the market.

Speaking of being a market leader, even just a few years ago would you have ever expected a company like BMW to partner with Parkmobile? Not at all. BMW would have never cared where you parked your car, as long as you had “the ultimate driving machine.” Now they do. As we move into a world where customer experience reigns supreme, even the most innovative automakers need to think outside the box (and the vehicle) and partner with market leading start-ups.

The rules of parking seemed simple – find a place to park, find change, repeat. For some, the nostalgia of using change may hang on, but – thanks to Parkmobile – it now looks as silly as acid-washed jeans. Standout brands have to challenge normal, generally-accepted conventions to find great success. This is why we recognize Parkmobile as a fearless brand that is breaking all the rules of parking.
